Born in 1964 in Toronto, Canada, Sandra moved to Germany at an early age with her parents, eventually emigrating to Australia in 1974.
At 18 Sandra started working full time in the fashion industry, eventually settling in Noosa, Australia nine years later to have her son Reuben. It was just after Reuben’s birth that she was diagnosed with severe Ulcerative Colitis. Suffering for years from the side effects of the prescribed steroidal drugs as well as the disease itself, Sandra undertook extensive research into alternative treatments. She eventually discovered the Specific Carbohydrate Diet* and soon went off the drugs and successfully cured herself.
A passionate cook and photographer, Sandra realised that the world needed a comprehensive visual reference to properly present the wide range of wonderful dishes that can be prepared within the scope of this enormously successful diet.
A year in the making, her book ‘Cooking for Celiacs, Colitis, Crohn's and IBS’ is a visually stunning and intelligently written cookbook, designed to please and inspire all those who suffer from these debilitating diseases, as well as those who already live happier lives thanks to the SCD.
